WHATER LILIES

The idea to paint water lilies came to me after one summer trip to nature. When I looked at beautiful flowers in dark water, I suddenly realized that they were similar in color and shape to magnolia flowers, and the large flat leaves around them resemble clouds. Upon returning home, I found in my studio exactly the same canvas format as the one on which I painted magnolia this spring and the solution to the artwork arose by itself: Lily flowers in dark water, spinning in a dance framed by cloud leaves. Nothing distracts from the graceful movement : only large pink flowers-bowls, dark water and green round leaves. The square canvas format corresponded well to the intended composition. The painting was painted in my favorite art deco style, by brush and palette knife.
