I love portrait as a classic genre in painting. Sometimes in my style I paint portraits on commission. But frankly, I prefer to paint portraits of people I have never seen. Which I can imagine in my imagination and endow with features that interest me. Create a portrait as a generalised character, as a person living in an imaginary world. So, I never met a woman painted in this artwork, I don’t know why she holds a basket of fruit on her head and where does she go. She listens intently to herself, but I do not know what her thoughts are about. The landscape and the fruits in her basket tell us that this is happening in the south. This painting is a metaphor, and therefore it includes a lot of meanings. I painted this story trying to find the personal touch of a character through movement, gesture, color, clothes. This artwork was painted mainly with a palette knife. As in most of my artworks, I used the style of the 20s-30s of the last century, which I feel very close to me both in spirit and in design. This painting is part of my 2019 Festive Promenade collection.
